Maybe because most people try to make their works more... excellent. Perfect, over-the-top.
I'm just a 21-year-old hobbyist studying Physics (and dreaming to be a comic artist and a writer XD Isn't that a dream of too many people, btw?) and I know that whatever I do it won't be perfect. So I do it as I do. Until it's finished. Not perfect.
So when I do something, I'm not trying to impress anyone (including myself), I'm just trying to finish something that has been started, try to learn something in the process. Not... sell it.
I'm doing it because I want to, not because I want to get known or popular, but because when I don't draw (or write, but I never submit that, so let's omit the subject) I feel empty.
I just have to draw.
It's an addiction. Stronger even than to caffeine ;D

Do you know the saying: "If you are able to reach perfect than the thing that you envisioned as perfect was never perfect." Not sure if there is a version of this in English but we use it often. Nothing is flawless, you can only learn to love it's flaws.
It is a beautifull dream. I always respected comic artist, specially ones that gave us Superheroes. Spider-Man always been my hero and lightened my childhood. So being a person who creates wonderfull universes us to explore. I tip my hat for them.
Feeling empty. I totally agree. I am writing stories since I was 10. I finished many stories. Even a few books. I wrote them because I loved writing. Although If you ask anyone ever read them, my only answer is 2 person. My best friend since age of 11 is one of them. Well other one... she kinda threatened me.
